If you have not already done so, please review the Help Information for the Hits By States Map page. The process of generating a Hits By County Map is very similar and the differences are noted in the Hits By State Map Help Information. You can leave that Help page open while you come back here to generate your Hits By County map.
A couple of things noted there as being specific to the Hits By County Map are that you must include the # sign in your color code and that you may use the Artist's Palette located near each color box to select your colors.
One difference not noted there deals with the size of the Hits By County Map. The full size of the map is 1110 pixels in width and 659 pixels in height. Very large for most profiles although some people prefer it. If you utilize the built-in process for transferring the map to your profile it will be inserted at 1/2 of the full size, 550x330 pixels. This is controlled by width and height attributes, width="550" and height="330", inserted in the image tag by the transfer process. You may change these values. In order to maintain the original aspect ratio (height to width ratio) you should keep the height of the map approximately 0.6 times the width. Values of width="607" and height="360" will make the map similar in width to the Friends Hits By States Map while maintaining the proper aspect ratio.
If you choose to Copy and Paste the map's image tag to your profile you may insert these attributes inside the image tag to control the size of your map. Edit your image tag look like: {img width="xxx" height="yyy" src="http........"} where { and } are really the "less than" and "greater than" symbols.
If you continue to have difficulty in creating your map please refer back to Step 4b) of the Hits By State Map page Help Information.
My apologies to the other contributors listed below for incorporating their comments into this version and deleting the old text. Between here and the Hits By States Map page I think I got everything covered. If not, you can add them back :-) JT
