Greetings Frustrated Where's George? User!
I feel your pain... to find a Where's George? bill, get
excited about tracking its history, only to find nothing, nada, zip.
When you are done reading this note, please click on the link at the
bottom of the page to send me an email requesting that I look into the
problem, and I just might be able to find out why your bill has no
history.
In the mean time, here are some things that typically cause your
bill entry or entries not to be found in the database, yet have
been marked or stamped with "wheresgeorge.com".
First, some people don't quite get how Where's George?
works, and simply stamp or mark bills without entering them
into the database at all. As much as I attempt to convey that
this is wrong, it still happens. They typically think that even
without entering the bills in the database it helps promote the
site. But unfortunately, it causes problems down the road for
good people like yourself.
Second, some people break the rules by stamping and/or
marking their bills, writing down the serial numbers, and
entering into the database AFTER THEY'VE SPENT the bills!
If someone finds the bills before the person got home to enter
the bills, you'll get no history. Worse yet, when they do finally
enter the bills, the hits are out of order, and then THEY write me
to complain. Even worse still, some people just plain forget to
enter the bills or lose the paper with the numbers. None of this
would happen if everyone followed the .
Third, plain old human error accounts for occasional
problems. It is possible that the previous entry is in the database,
but the owner of the bill entered the wrong Series (year),
Denomination, or mistyped the Serial number. Please take a close
look at your bill and verify that you have entered the info correctly.
If not, just re-enter the correct info and you may just find its
history. (Then read the about deleting the incorrect bill
entry.)
Finally, if you do not receive a personal note from me with the
results of the search, I could not find any history or errors in
the database. If I do find an error of some sort, I'll fix it
and notify you of the results. In the mean time, be sure to
run the "Your Bills" report and look at the "Bills I've Hit"
report for a history of any bills you've entered that had a
history. You just might find your answer there.
Thanks for visiting Where's George?!!
