Summary: Who, me?
First Name: Frank
Profile:
Well, I've finally updated my profile!
I procrastinated a bit (it's only been a year, or so).
I added a couple more websites you can order stamps from,
and I had a list of a dozen or so more stamp suggestions to add,
but I lost it! Argh!!!
Emailed me before, with a stamp suggestion that I haven't added?
Please do so again! I promise I won't lose it this time.

Any of the large office supply superstores, such as Office Max,
Office Depot, Staples, or whoever is in your area of the country,
should sell stamps. There are even some stores that sell
only stamps, or stamps and seals. Check the yellow pages,
under "Rubber Stamps". Don't have a yellow pages at home?
Use Yahoo's Yellow Pages online: http://yp.yahoo.com/

Here's several places on the web to order stamps, ink, and replacement ink pads:
(inkpads do wear out. over time, the indent the text leaves in it gets too deep,
and the resulting text gets lighter and lighter, despite how much ink you use)

http://www.stamp-connection.com
http://www.stampkits.com/ (same site as stampman.com)
http://www.thestampmaker.com/
http://www.rbrstamp.com/ (same as first)
http://www.rubberstampmfg.com/index.html
http://www.carolinastamp.com/index.html

Please, if anyone sees any other site actually using the name "WheresGeorge",
please email me.

On to the main decision: what wording to use?
Here's a list of all the suggestions that I've culled from the Public Forums.
If anyone has any more suggestions, please drop me an email, and I'll add it to the list.

These are only suggestions, so they can easily be changed to whatever suits your mood.
Add, remove, or change any of the words.

Some of these may be too long for a stamp.
www.wheresgeorge.com is 20 characters long, and the double lines are 30 long, for comparison.
They could appear different, due to font size and spacing.

You can also make it a 4 line stamp, or only a 2 line stamp, or a one liner.

You can also use a smaller font size to fit more words in, or so the stamp will more
easily fit into blank spaces on the bills.

Some people like to use 2 different stamps:
one for the front of bills and a different one for the back.
Or 2 of the same stamp: one for home and one for work, and maybe even a spare,
especially if you travel much.

Most people seem to think that adding the word "Please" will get more hits, as well as using
"series & serial #", instead of just "serial #" by itself. (people may write down the serial #
to enter later, and not keep the bill. without the series, it won't be any good)

Some people like to use a standard rubber stamp, that you have to use a seperate inkpad with.
You can more accurately place it on the bill. Most, like me, seem to prefer using a self-inking stamp.

You can also experiment with different ink colors. Some people will want just a black,
or blue, to try to remain as unobtrusive as possible. Others want a flourescent or neon
color, so it'll really stand out.

It has also been suggested to try multiple colors in a single stamp.
You can put one color on one end of the ink pad and another color on the other end.
You get a solid color on each end and a sort of rainbow effect in the middle, where they blend.
You can also change colors by buying just a replacement inkpad and different color ink,
instead of buying a whole new stamper.

Some people like to use a highliter pen, to highlight the series and serial #'s.

Some people get good results from running their bills through their inkjet or laser printers,
instead of stamping.
It'll just take some trial and error to figure out the correct spacing and margin settings.
Cut out some plain paper the same size as a bill, to experiment with.

And some hardcore Georgers still swear by handwriting everything, foregoing stamps and
stamping altogether. (egads! but that's a lot of writer's cramp!)

Whatever you decide to do, and however you decide to do it,
the most important thing is to have fun!
Happy Georging!!!
